A Love Affair
We love Cape Cod and the Islands! After all, we fell in love here about 30 years ago working summer jobs at the Wianno Club in Osterville. It was Hugh's first time to the U.S. from his native England and another year of summer work for Margaux, who grew up summering on the Cape, Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard. It was back then that our love affair with Cape Cod and the Islands, and with each other, first ignited and we vowed we'd always return.
After our summer jobs ended, Hugh went back to England and Margaux back to her university. After a year apart with lots of love letters sent (there was no internet back then), Margaux took a year studying in Strasbourg, France and we reunited for the first time, spending a lot of the school year jumping back and forth between England and France. We traveled all over Europe together for a few years, staying at bed and breakfasts and pensiones but eventually Margaux returned to the U.S. and well, frankly, life got busy with other things and other important people in our lives.
After a long interlude apart -- only about 22 years -- we reunited and married in 2010 at Chatham Bars Inn during Hurricane Earl, where we were interviewed during the storm for The Weather Channel and The Today Show (our 15 minutes of fame)! Now most would think getting married during a hurricane is a bad omen, but we couldn't disagree more -- we love the Cape and Islands in all seasons for each season has its own beauty and if we can weather a hurricane, we think we've got a pretty good shot at weathering life's ups and downs together.
Last year, when we saw Bed and Breakfast Cape Cod for sale, we jumped at the opportunity to be back on the Cape and thought we could bring a lot of our experience to grow the business. We have redesigned our site and chosen our new logo, footprints, because there is nothing we like to do more than walk barefoot on the glorious Cape beaches.
So welcome! We've been working hard to give visitors and local Cape and Islands' companies something informative, useful and well, we think, special. We hope you can find the information you need on our website to make your trip to Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket as memorable as our experiences have been here...just don't wait 22 years to come back!
We hope you enjoy our website...our labor of love.
Hugh and Margaux
Now for the serious stuff...
For more than 27 years, Hugh’s career has been entirely in the hospitality and leisure fields, most recently as President of his family-run travel company. He hails from Cambridge, England and brings with him lots of experience from his travels to many places around the world. Margaux is a Massachusetts native (although she's lived in many other U.S. states and Europe) and has more than 26 years experience in creative services and marketing working for such companies as Hyatt Hotels Corporation, Hyatt International Corporation, Harvard Business School Publishing, and Mass Medical Society (The New England Journal of Medicine). Both Hugh and Margaux have traveled extensively across the globe but still find Cape Cod to be their favorite place.
